CALL FOR PAPERS

The Organizing Committee of the 9th OpenTESOL International Conference invites participants to submit abstracts for the 2021 conference.
For the past 8 years, the OpenTESOL conference has become a meaningful community for teachers, researchers, students and professionals in the field of second language education, sharing research findings and classroom practices.
The 9th OpenTESOL International Conference 2021 is co-organized by The Graduate School and Faculty of Foreign Languages, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Vietnam. 
The main conference this year expects to host more than 500 administrators, researchers, lecturers, teachers, postgraduate students of English language education, and other interested professionals. The conference program will showcase more than 50 parallel sessions of different subthemes.
We hope the 2021 conference will continue to be a milestone for all participants' continuous professional development in this unprecedented times.

  3. In under-resourced areas, how can language educators creatively design learning activities?
  4. How online communities have transformed teacher development and student learning?
  5. What are sustainable approaches towards digital well-being?
  6. What findings and implications of practitioners' research should policymakers be informed of?

PRESENTATION AND PARTICIPATION MODES

For this year's conference, we will adopt a hybrid mode: On-site at Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Vietnam and Virtual gathering via video conferencing platforms.

  • Call for papers: 9 January 2021
  • Abstract deadline: 21 February 2021
  • Full paper (optional) deadline: 4 April 2021
  • Pre-conference date: 21 May 2021
  • Main conference date: 22 May 2021
  • Culture tour (subject to change): 23 May 2021
  • Proceedings publication (with an ISBN number): Mid-June 2021

CONFERENCE FEES

Virtual participation and presentation: Free of charge
On-site:
*International delegates: starting from 60USD
*Vietnamese delegates: starting from 500,000VND

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

Title: no more than  15 words and use “Title case” (the first letter of each word is capitalized, except for small words)
Abstract: between 150 and 250 words.
For research-based submissions, the abstract should include:
  1. Background of the study 
  2. Research gaps
  3. Methodology
  4. Participants, data collection and analysis
  5. Results/Findings
  6. Implications (if any) 
For practice-based (workshops) submissions, the abstract should include:
  1. Rationale
  2. Theoretical support
  3. Brief description of techniques
  4. Participants' outcomes
Keywords:  no more than 5 words. For examples: video conferencing; learning management system; teaching reading online
Biodata statement: approx. 70 words including your job position, institution, country, skills taught, research interests and experiences.
All submissions will undergo a double-blind review.

1 Click the "Submit an Abstract" button to send your paper to our submission system. 

2 Click 'Forgot your password?' and the insert your registered user's email.
3 Click 'Reset password'.
3 Open your Inbox (or Spam folder) and click the link from OpenTESOL to create a new password.
4 Log in and click "
New Submission" 
5 Follow the submission workflow in the system. 
6 Complete your submission. Check your Inbox (or your Spam folder) for a confirmation email.
