You're invited to submit a proposal for the 10th OpenTESOL International Conference 2022, to be held virtually on 27-28 May 2022. OpenTESOL 2022 welcomes submissions from teachers, researchers, professionals and postgraduate students in the field of second and foreign language education to share research findings and classroom practices within a supportive community of practice.
Co-organized by The Graduate School and Faculty of Foreign Languages, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Vietnam, OpenTESOL 2022 is anticipated to be a milestone for all participants' continuous professional development, building back from long-term effects of coronavirus on language education.

Time and Dates (Vietnam Time):
  • Pre-conference workshops & featured speeches: 13:30-16:00, 27 May 2022 
  • Parallel sessions & keynote speeches: 8:00-17:00, 28 May 2022 
Presentation & participation mode: Virtual (Zoom conferencing platform and YouTube). Speakers will decide whether they wish to deliver their sessions in real time via Zoom or asynchronously on YouTube.

TIMELINE

  • Abstract submission deadline: 27 March 2022, extended to 10 April 2022.
  • Notification of abstract acceptance: 7 days. Once the abstract is submitted, the speaker will receive the abstract review result in 7 working days.
  • Full paper deadline: 8 May 2022. A full paper submission is not required.
  • Pre-conference date: 27 May 2022
  • Main conference date: 28 May 2021
  • ​Conference publication (ASEAN Citation Index) in two special issues of Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science: in mid-June 2022 and in December 2022.

CONFERENCE FEES

The speaker's fees have included the full paper publication fees.
  • E-certificates: Speakers and participants will receive a digital certificate of presentation and attendance at OpenTESOL 2022.
  • Print certificates: Speakers and participants will receive a print certificate of presentation and attendance at OpenTESOL 2022. The certificate will be delivered to the owner's mailing address.

CONFERENCE PUBLICATIONS

OpenTESOL 2022 speakers are eligible to submit a full paper to two special issues of Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science (ASEAN Citation Index). For more information about the journal aim, scope and submission policy,  please read the submission guidelines below:

  • Vietnamese submission: https://journalofscience.ou.edu.vn/index.php/soci-vi/about/ouuserguide​
The manuscripts will undergo a double-blind review process, and published in two issues: one in mid-June 2022 and the other in December 2022.
  • The full paper publication is free-of-charge.
  • If the paper requires minor revisions, they can be scheduled to be published in mid-June. For those which need major revisions, the publication date will be December 2022.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

Title: no more than  15 words and use “Title case” (the first letter of each word is capitalized, except for small words)
Abstract: between 150 and 200 words.
For research-based submissions, the abstract should include:
  1. Background of the study 
  2. Research gaps
  3. Methodology
  4. Participants, data collection and analysis
  5. Results/Findings
  6. Implications (if any) 
For practice-based (workshops) submissions, the abstract should include:
  1. Rationale
  2. Theoretical support
  3. Brief description of techniques
  4. Participants' outcomes
Keywords:  no more than 5 words. For examples: video conferencing, learning management system, reading instruction
Biodata statement: approx. 80 words including the speaker's position, institution, country, skills taught, research interests and experiences.
Important notes
  • Rejection: The abstract will be rejected immediately if it does not meet the word count requirement, contain many language inaccuracies, and/or plagiarism is detected.
  • Submission limit: each speaker will be limited to one abstract submission in which the speaker is the main author and one abstract submission in which the speaker is the co-author.
  • Review process: All submissions will undergo a  supportive, fast-track review process. Once the abstract is submitted, the speaker will receive the abstract review result in 7 working days.

2 Go to Abstract Submission System to create a new account. This system is different from OpenTESOL's past systems so all authors need to create a new account.
3 Click 'Make a submission' and fill in all the required information. Upload your Abstract Form and a profile photo.

4 Check your Inbox (or Spam Box) for the confirmation message.
​5 Within 7 working days, the review result will be emailed to the speaker's inbox.
